A nationally recognised food distributor required financial awareness training for its supplier facing team in order to make them more aware of the fundamentals of business finance so that they could have a better understanding of the financial challenges faced by their suppliers. Time For… designed and delivered a fully interactive course which catered for the key financial statements they would see in a set of company accounts and how to interpret the information shown, as well as other financial concepts such as projecting Cash Flow and the use of financial ratios. The approach to the training centred around the delegates creating a business ‘in the room’ and taking that business’ income and expenditure through a typical trading year. Having done so, the various transections were used in order to create the company accounts. This enabled the delegates to see in a very practical setting where everything that happened on a day to day basis within a business, ended up on a set of company accounts. Many important concepts, such as credit terms, shareholder value, depreciation, accruals, goodwill and the difference between cash and profit were also effectively demonstrated.
